Part 1 - Data Collection

Our International Politics Research Team is currently collecting data on all attempted peace negotiations in civil wars from 1980-2010.

Part 2 - Interpretation

We will use this data to better understand when violence is likely to occur during a negotiation attempt and what factors influence the outcome of these attempts. Additionally, this research will guide projects centered around the structure of negotiations in a few current civil wars.

Student Testimony

"As part of the research team, I collect and code data on intrastate conflicts worldwide. Being part of the research team has allowed me to be involved in research related to my major and meet wonderful people that are as interested as I am about these international topics. Not only this, but it has allowed me to learn more about the research process, something that I intend to continue doing as part of my career in the foreign service."
